MTD for Income Tax readiness portal for UK accountants

PracticeComply helps accountants and bookkeepers organise client readiness for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax without turning every client question into a spreadsheet.

Track income threshold bands, missing records, quarterly update readiness, client language preference and follow-up tasks in one simple portal.

The product is designed as a readiness and client workflow tool. It is not HMRC filing software.

Example MTD workflow

A small practice can use PracticeComply to keep each MTD follow-up visible from first review to client response.

  • Add the client and record the current income threshold band.
  • Set MTD status: April 2026, April 2027, April 2028, below threshold or needs review.
  • Request missing bank statements, sales records, UTR or income confirmation.
  • Use the dashboard to track open, due soon, overdue and received requests.

Example client status

Instead of a single spreadsheet cell, the practice can see the client status and the next action together.

  • Client: Kowalski Sole Trader.
  • MTD status: 2027 likely, needs threshold confirmation.
  • Missing records: latest bank statements and sales summary.
  • Next action: send Polish/English request and review upload.

What this does not do

PracticeComply is intentionally positioned as a client readiness and communication portal.

  • It does not submit MTD returns to HMRC.
  • It does not replace recognised MTD-compatible filing software.
  • It does not provide tax advice or decide whether a client is legally in scope.

Checklist and official sources

Use PracticeComply alongside your own professional process and official HMRC guidance.

  • Download the MTD client readiness checklist from the homepage.
  • Review HMRC guidance before relying on threshold dates.
  • Keep your normal practice records for advice, decisions and filing work.

Why MTD readiness needs structure now

HMRC guidance says MTD for Income Tax starts from 6 April 2026 for qualifying income over GBP 50,000, from 6 April 2027 over GBP 30,000, and from 6 April 2028 over GBP 20,000.

The practical problem for accountants is not only the date. It is knowing which clients have been checked, what evidence is missing and who still needs a reminder.
